New Music YOU Need to Get!

This week has presented me with more new and exciting music than I can handle. These are some of my top picks.

First of all, I bought the new (well kinda new) Pepper CD entitled "Pink Crustaceans: Good Vibrations". For any of you that have never heard of Pepper, you need to check this group out. I only had a chance to listen to the album one time thru but it seems to be up to par with “Kona Gold”- an amazing album they released in 2002. If you are interested in a super chill reggae/rock group, check them out.

Next CD I found myself picking up was the Chester French EP. This was $2.42 on iTunes and included the original song that I can’t get out of my head: “She loves everybody”, as well as several remixes. Also, it has another catchy song called “The Jimmy Choos”. And finally, while typing this, I realized that his full album was just released today… So pick it up. I am.

Another album I’m stoked on is “The Take Over” by Zion I. Amp Live and Zumbi worked together to create another masterpiece with this album. This album is filled with energy driven, up-tempo hip hop beats and an amazing flow. The album is cross faded and mixed together to produce a feeling that you are listening to one 45 minute song. It includes appearances from Brother Ali, Gift of Gab, Devin the Dude and more. I highly recommend this album for motivation while working out.

The next CD I got I swore I would never get. It’s the Asher Roth CD. After the “College” song and watching an interview with him on MTV, I thought he was a little tacky and superficial. All of that aside, I absolutely loved his CD. He is actually an intelligent lyricist and, while listening to his album, I found myself constantly thinking “This is dope” and wanting to hit the rewind button. Also, I laughed pretty hard in one of his songs when he talked about watching “that little people big world T.V. show”.

An amazing person told me about this Reggae artist named Mishka. He has, hands down, the most relaxing and good-feeling music I have heard in a long time. If you are in the right mood you will get chills. I got the CD “Above the Bones”. I don’t know much about him and his background, but I’m so happy to find him. This is the kind of music I was lacking in my collection.

And finally, the new Grouch and Eligh CD came out today. What can I say? I’ve been waiting for this album for a while now. I have barely scratched the surface of it and it was the entire reason I wrote this blog. If it is anything like their old work, we’re in for something amazing. With The Grouch’s bold and original flow and Eligh’s smooth, fast style, they create underground hip-hop perfection. Album features: Slug, Gift of Gab, Pigeon John, and many more. Go get that CD right now. Say G & E!

My only disappointment is that the release date for Matisyahu’s album has been moved back to “Spring 09”. The original release date was set for today but, apparently Matis decided he wanted to record more tracks so we all have to wait. I’m sure it will be worth it. In the mean time, get stoked on this:
